Story time with tea

She put the two cups of tea over the table , where he was reading newspaper. Both of them were avid tea lovers.
She was about to settle down over chair next to him, to sip her tea . Just then their kid started crying in sleep in the bedroom and she quickly reached there to comfort him.
He looked at the beautiful white ceramic cups adorned with three blue flowers and crystals .
She always makes the perfect tea….perfect color….perfect texture….. perfect aroma…. perfect taste…., thought he. But sweetness…..
He became sad and disappointed.
Three months back, he was diagnosed with diabetes, for which he had to take even insulin injections for two months and drastic lifestyle changes. By following diet restrictions, regular exercise and weight loss, the diabetes was controlled….and he was off any medications.
But the thing which he missed the most was the taste of his tea. Totally bland, totally sugarless….
He used to ask his wife to add a pinch of sugar, but she refused…..she was adamant. She was even against adding sugar free, fearing side effects. ‘ you would start liking the taste gradually',she used to say.
He looked towards the bedroom, she hadn't arrived yet….still comforting the crying kid. This was everyday 's story….her tea getting cold. He then stared at the two cups again…his without sugar…and her with sugar.
Suddenly he got a temptation to take a sip from her cup… thinking,’ I have just forgotten the real taste of tea….and just fed up with the bland tea……what a bad way to start a day'.

He took a sip from her cup….
And, he was taken aback…
Her tea tasted as bland as his….
She had left adding sugar to her tea as well.
She arrived just at that moment and found him smiling mysteriously with a question in his eyes….,’ why….why this sacrifice?’
‘ this isn't a sacrifice….this is being supportive …and facing the challenges and adversities together as a team, so I stopped adding sugar to my tea as well since last three months' ,said she.
‘ But, there is no need of it,’ said he feeling guilty.
‘ I just wanted to make sure that you don't give in to temptations…and wanted to put myself in your shoes to understand your situation better’, said she.
‘ Moreover, it tastes just fine' , added she, smiling
He was speechless.
The word 'soulmate’ isn't a myth….but a pleasant reality!
